Losses up by £1.5m as attendances fall

Wednesday’s operating losses increased by £1.5m to £5.4m in the year ending May 31, 2014, compared to 2013.

Figures released by the club show attendances dropped by 12 per cent during the 2013-14 season on the previous campaign, with season tickets down from 16,526 to 15,305.

Further investment in the playing squad and management saw wages increase by £600k and the decision to replace Dave Jones in December 2013 contributed to the rise in this outlay.

Milan Mandaric said: “I was extremely disappointed by our reduction in turnover which was due to the fall in revenue associated with the drop in attendances we suffered during the season.

“I do hope that with potential new investment in both the squad and the stadium from Dejphon Chansiri, supporters will back the club and our attendance figures will once again start to improve.”
