Llera says ‘adios’ to Hillsborough

Miguel Llera confirmed today that he has played his last game for Wednesday.

Llera, who was a key member of the 2012 promotion squad, says on his Facebook account:

Hello to all Sheffield Wednesday family!
From the deep of my heart thanks very much to whom was every single time support me, shouting my name, applaud me.
The time I played here was the best momentum of my career and I really enjoyed it, I was wish to say goodbye on the pitch. I didn’t have this opportunity and I say now goodbye.
We are all Wednesday.

Gary Megson brought Llera to Hillsborough, initially on loan and then on a permanent deal in January 2012 and the defender scored crucial goals at Huddersfield and Brentford to help secure promotion at the end of that season.

His overall record shows 73 appearances and 10 goals for the Owls. Dave Jones did not appear to be a great fan of the Spanish defender after he succeeded Megson and Llera has struggled for form when selected this season.

However, he will always have a special place in the hearts of Wednesday fans – as shown in the memorable picture of him being chaired off the pitch by hordes of supporters after the Owls clinched promotion against Wycombe on the final day of the season.

From all London Owls fans, we say ‘Adios, Miguel’ … thanks for the memories and good luck in the future.
