Lines is only injury problem as Wednesday take on Latics

Apart from long-term injury victim Chris Lines, Dave Jones will have a full-strength Wednesday squad to choose from for Monday’s competitive opener at Oldham.

Lines could be out for up to three months after being stretchered off with a groin injury during Saturday’s friendly draw with West Brom while Jones has to decide how many of his first team he fields against division one Oldham, with only a few days to go to the Championship kick off at Derby.

The manager is also likely to look to sign another central defender in the near future, with the number five shirt still not having been allocated to any of the current squad. The club is reported to have made a £300,000 bid for young Hearts defender Ryan McGowan but the Tynecastle club said they want double that amount.

Meanwhile, Dave Jones has to make his mind up over striker Marlon Harewood who has been on trial at S6 in the pre-season action.
