Leon’s late show takes Wednesday up to 13th place

Brighton & Hove Albion

An injury-time effort from Leon Best gave Wednesday a dramatic winner against Brighton tonight and saw us move up to 13th place in the Championship.

In a largely uneventful first-half, Jeremy Helan had the two best openings for the Owls while David Rodriguez headed against the bar for Brighton.

The visitors looked the more likely to break the deadlock after the break with Chris Kirkland twice denying them. At the other end, Wednesday went closest through subsititute Benik Afobe and Liam Palmer fired over the top from the rebound.

Then, just as a goalless draw looked to be the outcome, Best powered through from some 30 yards out on the left-hand side before drilling a shot across goal and into the far corner to ensure Wednesday made it four league wins in a row at Hillsborough.
