Lees happy with ‘comeback game’

Tom Lees was pleased with his comeback for the under-23s after a two-month lay-off with a hamstring injury.

Lees returned to competitive action in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw away at Burnley on Monday and, after lasting just past the hour-mark, Lees said: “For me, it was all about getting back used to that game speed and regaining that sharpness in your decision making for when you are out on the pitch.

“I’ve been doing a lot of running and fitness work but a game is completely different and I’m pleased I’ve come through it feeling okay, so that’s good.”

He added: “I’ve just got to keep working hard. I’ll continue to follow the plans that have been put in place for me and do everything I can to make myself available.”

Jordan Rhodes played the 90 minutes and scored our goal while Jordan Thorniley was another from the first team squad to play the full game.

Young defender Ash Baker had a 45-minute runout after being sidelined for six weeks with a groin problem.
