Lee takes positives from Germany trip

Lee Bullen said Wednesday will return home in positive mood after their two-game trip to Germany.

A 3-2 win – from two goals down – against Bundesliga 2 team Holstein Kiel on Sunday was just what Bullen wanted to see after Friday night’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to lower league Lubeck.

And the caretaker boss reflected on the trip, saying: “It’s been good, very good. We’ve been well looked after and the two games have been very useful.

“We played different teams who played in different ways and play in different divisions. Overall, the trip has been a positive experience and we’ll head back home in a positive frame of mind.”

Bullen said a change in formation from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 at half time in the Kiel game helped Wednesday turn the match around, making the side more compact and ensuring we gained more possession.

He added: “We got the goal just before half time, which was the perfect time to score, and it gave us that lift and the platform to go on and win the game.

“We controlled possession for most of the second half and I was pleased for the boys, they showed a lot of grit and deserved the win.”
