Kieran Lee made his first appearance in a Wednesday shirt since last September when he started for the under-23s in their 1-0 win over Watford at Middlewood Road on Monday afternoon.
Injuries have ruled the midfielder out of the first team since December 2017 but he is now back in full training and, as planned, played the opening 45 minutes against Watford, Connor Kirby hitting the winner from the edge of the box just after half time.
Daniel Pudil, Jordan Thorniley, Joe Wildsmith and Ash Baker all also played in a strong Wednesday line-up.
