Josh eyes starting place … loanees ready for action

Josh Windass is likely to be in the starting line-up for tomorrow’s home game with Ipswich … while the loanee trio of Jordan Storey, Tyreece John-Jules and Harlee Dean are all expected to at least make the Wednesday squad.

Windass has returned from long-term injury to come on as a sub in the last two matches against Plymouth and Oxford, scoring on both occasions. Darren Moore confirmed today that the striker is now ready to start games and he is likely to do so against the in-form Tractor Boys.

Storey could get a starting place after sitting on the bench as a sub at Oxford last Saturday while fellow central defender Dean is expected to at least be in the squad, along with young striker John-Jules, the pair both having started their S6 loan spells this week.

Wednesday go into the Ipswich challenge in ninth place, six points away from the play-offs and one point behind Ipswich but with two games in hand on them.

It also signals the start of a run of five out of six fixtures at Hillsborough and, with nine matches between tomorrow’s clash and the end of February, the sequence will surely have a big influence on how our play-off push is shaping up – or not – come the end of next month.

Ipswich go into the game with four wins from their last five outings under new manager Kieran McKenna and will be backed by around 3,000 fans.
