Jose eyes return to action … and new deal

Jose Semedo is hoping to be back in contention for a place in the Wednesday starting line-up before the end of the season … and wants to earn a new contract at S6.

Semedo has been out of action since mid-February after suffering a fractured fibular and ligament damage against Wigan, just at a time when he was forming an excellent midfield partnership with Kieran Lee. Now he says his recovery is ahead of schedule and is looking forward to pushing for a return to first team action in the coming weeks.

He told Wednesday Player: “I expect to be back in normal condition by the last week of the season and fit for selection.”

Looking further ahead, he said he hopes to be offered new terms when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

He said he had fallen in love with Wednesday when playing against us for Charlton, largely due to the backing of the fans for the team, and added: “I don’t think I will identify with another club – this is my club, this is my home.”

Referring to next season, Semedo said: “I really think that with this team we can do something special.”
