Jones: We’re a match for anyone at this level

Cardiff City

Dave Jones is in confident mood as he prepares Wednesday for the visit of his former club – table-topping Cardiff City – to Hillsborough on Saturday.

Buoyed by our improved form and decent record in recent weeks against teams chasing promotion, Jones said: “We will need to be at our best but we are a match for anyone at this level and we have proved that time and time again.”

Reflecting on the last four games, against Palace, Forest, Watford and Leicester, Jones said: “We have just come off the back of playing four teams in the top six and got a 50-50 return in terms of points. If we get what we want on Saturday fhen we will have taken nine points out of the last 15.

“We are the home side, we think we are capable of beating the team at the top but we will need to be at our best and make sure everyone performs to the best of their ability.”

He confirmed that Giles Coke will miss the game because of his foot injury but hopes he will be in contention for a return to action by the time of the next game – at home to Barnsley on March 30.

With regard to Reda Johnson, Jones said he was “tired, stiff and sore” after his return to action at Leicester and Jones has not confirmed whether he will be in contention for the Cardiff game.
