Jones shows interest in striker Chopra

Dave Jones has confirmed that he would be interested in a possible move for striker Michael Chopra.

The pair worked together when Jones was manager at Cardiff and he has told BBC Radio Sheffield: “If he’s available then it’s something that we’d consider. On his day he is a quality goalscorer.

“I know he’s had a lot of problems in the past couple of years and there’s plenty of questions that would need to be asked, whoever took him.”

Chopra has had well documented off-the-field problems surrounding an addicition to betting. He scored just five goals in 36 games for Ipswich last season and manager Mick McCarthy, who took over the Portman Road reins early in the campaign from ex-Owl Paul Jewell, said Chopra was surplus to requirements at the end of the season.
