Jones issues challenge to JJ for Boro clash

Middlesbrough

Dave Jones is looking for Jermaine Johnson to put things right with a top display at Middlesbrough tomorrow … if selected.

JJ immediately apologised on Twitter after his sending off for a headbutt at Rotherham earlier this month and his three-match suspension has arguably cost us dear as the side has missed his pace and trickery – either from the start or as an impact substitute.

He is back in contention for tomorrow and Jones said:  “JJ apologised on his Twitter account. He let everybody down. Now he has got the opportunity to make up for that if he is selected.”

And Jones hinted Johnson could be in the starting line-up when he added: “It’s good to have him back, certainly away from home; it gives us that power and pace if we’re trying to counter-attack. He’ll come into contention.”

Wednesday also wait on Lewis Buxton to see if he has recovered from a hamstring injury, with Liam Palmer on standby to deputise.

We go into the game still searching for a first win of the season after four league matches while Boro are looking for their first home win after taking five points from their opening four fixtures.
