Jones hits out over ‘calls to change manager’

Dave Jones reacted angrily when asked about his future at Wednesday after the 4-1 hammering at Birmingham this afternoon.

Responding to a question from BBC Radio Sheffield’s Andy Giddings that some fans were calling for a change of manager at S6, Jones said: “That’s a stupid question, you’re drumming up a silly thing after just five or six games.”

He added: “Don’t tell me it’s what the fans think – there might be the odd one or whatever – but don’t stand there and ask me a stupid question like that and expect me to give you a solid answer.”

Jones continued: “You shouldn’t be asking me that question after we have just been thumped 4-1. That’s a poor question to ask me … don’t drum up something that’s not there.”

Defeat leaves Wednesday still searching for a first win of the season after seven games and in 21st spot, just one point above bottom club Bolton.
