Jones: ‘A perfect away performance’

Dave Jones hailed Wednesday’s victory at the Reebok as a “perfect, counter-attacking away performance”.

Jones said it was a good, hard-working display and felt we might have scored more. He said part of the reason for the success was the rotation of the squad … his decision to drop Chris O’Grady and Gary Madine to the bench raising many an eyebrow before the game but being proved to be a good move after 90 minutes at Bolton.

Jones said: “In effect, we had four full backs on the pitch – but they can all get forward and we had Antonio’s pace down the middle.”

The changes also meant a recall for loan striker Mamady Sidibe, who turned into match-winner with his first goal in almost three injury-hit years. Jones said: “Mamady has had an horrendous time with injuries and it was a superb header from a great ball by Lewis Buxton.”

Looking torwards the Huddersfield game on Saturday, Jones said the team were back in for training tomorrow and he hinted that he was likely to shuffle the pack again as we face a third game inside a week … and with a home clash with Burnley to come on New Year’s Day.
