JJ: I’m hoping to earn new contract at Hillsborough

Jermaine Johnson hopes to secure another contract with Wednesday at the end of the season.

JJ has been recalled to the starting line-up in recent times following the enforced absence of Michail Antonio and scored two goals in a man-of-the-match performance against Blackburn on Saturday.

He signed a new one-year deal last summer and is hoping to stay at S6 at the end of this campaign, saying: “I don’t want to leave the club. This is my home – apart from Jamaica.

“I’m going to be talking to the gaffer and telling him I want to stay. It is up to him, but mostly down to me to go out and do my best for the team.”

And Johnson, who has been at Hillsborough since 2007, added: “For me, if we stay up this season then we are going to be challenging for the play-offs next season.”
