‘It was most important to take three points’

Carlos Carvalhal said the crucial factor was taking the three points after Wednesday’s 2-0 win at relegated Rotherham.

After seeing Wednesday bounce back into the play-off places following four games without a win, Carvalhal said: “The most important thing tonight was to win and we played to win.”

He added: “We are learning how to play against more physical teams and maybe we would not have won this game last season,”

When asked about defeats for play-off rivals Leeds and Fulham on the same night, Carvalhal said: “We must look to ourselves. When we depend on what we must do we do not care about what others might do.”

He continued: “There are six games to finish – two away and four at Hillsborough, with our fantastic supporters. We are here to do our best and we have expectations to achieve a good position at the end.”
