It feels like a defeat says Bullen

Lee Bullen was left desperately disappointed by West Brom’s injury time equaliser … but praised Wednesday’s overall display in taking a point from the promotion chasers on their own patch.

Speaking after the home side grabbed a 95th minute equaliser to make it 1-1 through a David Jones’ own goal, caretaker boss Bullen said: “It feels like a defeat. To go so close to a win is a real sore one and the players are so disappointed.”

However, he added: “To come to a club like this and put in that performance, work rate and togetherness was a big positive.

“Hopefully, the last three performances will have lifted everybody and we’ll see a big crowd on Tuesday against Birmingham at Hillsborough.

“The boys can take a lot of confidence but we won’t get ahead of ourselves. This league can kick you in the teeth when you think you are getting somewhere but the players will be fully ready for Birmingham.”

Bullen felt the team should have shown more on the ball when West Brom were reduced to 10 men in the second half, with Jay Rodriguez’s red card, and he had special praise for the recalled Cameron Dawson in goal, saying: “Cameron was fantastic, to come back into the side and play like he did.

“We’re so disappointed for him as much as anyone at full time but he can take a lot of credit today.”
