Luhukay ponders strike replacement

Jos Luhukay will make a late decision on whether to start with Steven Fletcher or Lucas Joao up front against Hull City on Saturday.

With Atdhe Nuhiu suspended for one game after being sent off in the opening day defeat at Wigan, boss Luhukay could turn to Fletcher, if the striker proves his fitness after last season’s lengthy lay-off with a knee injury.

Fletcher came off the bench during the second half against Wigan and Luhukay said on Thursday that he will make a decision on Saturday morning over whether to name him in the starting line-up.

At the same time, Luhukay said Fletcher is not ready to play 90 minutes but he feels he could last for an hour or up to 70 minutes.

Lucas Joao is the alternative strike replacement for Nuhiu on Saturday. He also came on as a second-half substitute at Wigan, playing an excellent through ball for Fernando Forestieri to net our second goal.

In addition, the manager has to decide whether to make any changes at the back after the poor display at Wigan, with Sam Hutchinson possibly switching into central defence.
