Injury problems mount up for trip to Burton

Wednesday will be missing all three injury casualties from midweek for the trip to Burton Albion tomorrow.

Josh Windass, Harlee Dean and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru all had to leave the field with muscle problems during the 2-0 win over Morecambe and will sit out the match.

In addition, Lee Gregory continues to be sidelined with a foot injury sustained at Oxford – which will also keep him out of the midweek home game with high-flying Wigan – and recent loan signing Tyreece John-Jules  is also missing tomorrow after picking up a knock in his debut as a sub against Ipswich last weekend.

Covid victim Darren Moore hopes to be back in the dugout at Burton for the match against one of his former clubs, after missing the Morecambe game with the virus. However, he will not know until matchday as he follows the necessary protocols.

The absence of five first-teamers, plus the long-term absence of Dominic Iorfa and Chey Dunkley, comes at a busy and crucial time of the season for the Owls as we look to build on two successive home wins and get ourselves back into the play-off places.

We are currently four points adrift of those positions, with a game in hand on sixth-placed Oxford, while mid-table Burton have lost just one of their last five outings.

Loanee defender Lewis Gibson is set to return to Hillsborough on Monday after rehabilitating with parent club, Everton, following his injury sustained against Bolton back in October.
