‘I hope fans feel proud of the team’s efforts’

Tony Pulis said he hoped the Wednesday fans felt proud of the team after our 10 men fought out a gutsy 1-1 draw with promotion hopefuls Reading.

Speaking after taking a point, Pulis said: “The fans should be proud of the effort the players put in tonight. It’s a precious point for us.”

Talking of the squad, he added: “We lack certain things but they have really bought into what we want them to do. We had some good fortune with decisions tonight but we deserved it in terms of the players taking up the baton.”

Pulis said Liam Shaw’s sending off after 30 minutes was a disappointment, commenting: “It was a reckless challenge and I understand why the ref gave a red card.”

He said the half-time break gave him a chance to reorganise after the sending off and the substitutions at the interval enabled us to be more resilient.
