‘I don’t know how long I’ve got as boss’

Jos Luhukay said he doesn’t know how much time he will be given to turn around Wednesday’s alarming slump towards the Championship relegation places.

Speaking after the 2-1 home defeat to Derby, our fifth league reverse in the last six matches, Luhukay said: “How long have I got? I don’t know. I try my best every day with my team and we hope we win the next game.”

We sit in 18th place, just three points above the relegation places, and that next match comes at home to 22nd-placed Bolton on Tuesday evening.

Bolton are one of three teams on 17 points and, with a full midweek programme of Championship games, Luhukay knows that anything less than a win will heap further pressure on him.

He blamed poor defending for both Derby goals on Saturday, saying: “The two goals were too easy.

“When we look back, every time we make mistakes to give opponents the chance to score. That must be stopped. When we do that,  you can’t win a game.”
