Hutch back from ban … Bannan ruled out

Barry Bannan has failed to recover in time for tomorrow night’s Capital One Cup quarter final tie at Stoke.

The midfielder has been back in training after sustaining a knee injury at Charlton earlier this month but Carlos Carvalhal said today that Bannan will not be ready for the cup clash.

Keiren Westwood is already ruled out with an achilles problem and Fernando Forestieri is cup-tied but
Sam Hutchinson is able to return to the midfield after his two-match ban.

Carvalhal could be tempted to pair Lucas Joao and Gary Hooper up front and to start with Lewis McGugan in midfield as we look to make it a hat-trick of Premier League scalps in the competition this season.

The head coach said: “We must give everything on the pitch for the fans and we will do that.”
