| Owls
boss Alan Irvine remained upbeat despite Wednesday's single goal
defeat at West Brom on Tuesday evening, which keeps us firmly in
the relegation zone.
A long-range
Robert Koren drive just 11 minutes from time sunk any hopes of a
point after Wednesday had created the better openings in the first
half, leaving Irvine to reflect: "We had a terrific shape about
us and that provided the platform for us to go and give them some
problems. We probably had the best chances in the first half.
"We
knew that we would be under some pressure at some point in the second
half but I felt as if we were coping with that pressure before a
moment of brilliance from a top quality player in this division."
Earlier,
Wednesday - without Marcus Tudgay who was ill - had created problems
for the home side, with the paces of Jermaine Johnson causing concerns
for the Albion defenders and he went close with a chipped effort
over ex-Wednesday loanee Scott Carson, when power might have been
the better option.
After
the break it was Lee Grant's turn to catch the eye with some excellent
stops . . . before Koren struck with that late winner to leave us
still in that third relegation spot.
