Hat-trick of victories takes Wednesday into joint second place

A third successive victory took Wednesday into joint second place after a 2-1 win at in-form Notts County on Saturday.

With rivals Sheff U being held to a draw by Tranmere and rivals Charlton, Huddersfield and MK Dons all also dropping points, we have now put ourselves firmly back into contention for an outright promotion place … behind our city rivals only on goal difference and nine points adrift of faltering leaders Charlton.

Ssecond half goals from Ryan Lowe and Gary Madine deservedly clinched the points at Meadow Lane, despite a late goal from former Owls loanee Lloyd Sam, and the noisy 4,500 Wednesdayites made a happy return trip up the M1 … plus a good group of London Owls in the opposite direction.

Boss Dave Jones said: “I thought we were tremendous today, the players did everything we asked … but the next game is always the hardest one.

“However, when you have support like that it shows the players exactly how much of a success this club could be. Three wins out of three is magnificent and does become like a juggernaut, especially when you have 4,500 people giving it a push like we did today.”
