Gray: That was a definite penalty

Stuart Gray called it a “stonewall penalty” after Chris Maguire was brought down by Huddersfield’s Joel Lynch in the closing stages at the John Smiths Stadium today.

Gray said: “There’s no way Chris Maguire dived and it’s a stonewall penalty. You’ve only got to look at the reaction of my players and the Sheffield Wednesday fans.

“But we’re not getting the breaks at the moment and that’s three games on the trot where we feel we should have had a penalty.”

Gray said the side didn’t get at Huddersfield in the first half but responded well after the break, adding: “I’ve told the players they can take credit from the performance.”

Looking forward, he said: “It will turn around and we will get that little bit of fortune and luck. At the moment we are not getting the rub of the green.

“But we can’t feeel sorry for ourselves and need to get ready for the Wigan game next Saturday.”
