Gray still eyes Fryatt after missing out on Sharp

Stuart Gray has confirmed that Hull City’s Matty Fryatt is still on his radar as he looks to strengthen the Wednesday strike force before the end of the January transfer window.

Fryatt, who had a successful loan spell at S6 earlier in the season, has been linked with other Championship clubs but remains on Gray’s shopping list as he hopes to bring in two strikers on loan deals before next week’s deadline.

Gray also revealed that Billy Sharp had been a possible target before he signed for Doncaster Rovers this week.

Talking about his impending appointment as manager and his possible backroom staff, Gray said there would be a place for the current acting number two – Lee Bullen – but did not expand on what that position might be.

Gray may well want to bring in his own assistant and, if so, that would mean Bullen probably reverting to his official job of under-21s development coach.
