Stuart Gray says Chris Kirkland will be staying at Wednesday – for the time being at least – despite approaches about a possible loan move.
One national newspaper reported that Kirkland was a loan target for Blackpool but Gray said today: “We have had tentative enquiries regarding Chris, but it has got to be the right for Sheffield Wednesday and for Chris Kirkland and at this moment we don’t think it is the right time for him to go out.”
Gray said the Owls would still be keen to bring Lewis McGugan back to Hillsborough from Watford after his loan spell earlier in the season and said that the Hornets bringing in Ben Watson from Wigan might improve the chances of a return to S6 for the midfielder.
