Gray: Display matched the Leeds performance

Stuart Gray compared Wednesday’s win over Birmingham with the six-goal demolition of Leeds earlier in the season.

Gray said : “It was up there with the Leeds display today. Everyone came out with a lot of credit and it was an excellent team performance.”

The head coach added that he was particularly pleased for two-goal Caolan Lavery after the youngster’s disappointment at giving away the late penalty at Wigan on Wednesday night.

Talking of the progress of the graduate of the Owls academy, Gray added: “He’s a boy who wears the shirt with great pride.”

While he was disappointed not to keep a clean sheet, Gray said his pre-match talk to the players was “that we were playing on our own patch, to get on the the front foot and to get at them … and that’s what they did”.
