Gray disappointed at both ends of pitch

Stuart Gray was left frustrated at both ends of the pitch after Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat at Wolves tonight.

The head coach said: “We did ok with the ball but we have got to do the ugly side of things as well.

“We have got to stop the cross coming in for Afobe to score from and then for the third goal I don’t think anyone put in a tackle on the boy who carried it 30 yards and ended up putting it in the top corner.”

Gray said the referee got it wrong for the first goal – a penalty – and video replays would appear to confirm that there was no foul when Claude Dielna and Nouha Dicko came together in the penalty area.

He also felt Wolves were “there for the beating” but said the Owls often backed off when their pressure caused the home side to make errors and rued the side failing to take good opportunities in front of goal.

Reflecting on two excellent headed chances, for Jacques Maghoma and Atdhe Nuhiu, Gray added: “We’ve got to be scoring goals with those chances.”

On the Nuhiu opportunity, Gray added: “It was a fantastic chance and he has got to make sure he pulls off a save from the keeper – but he hasn’t even hit the target.”
