Gray considers new boy Benik for Wednesday debut

Barnsley

New loan signing Benik Afobe could go straight into the starting line-up for Wednesday’s home Yorkshire derby with Barnsley tomorrow.

The 20-year-old Arsenal striker says he is ready for Championship action and Stuart Gray may put him into the side for our second relegation six-pointer inside four days.

The suspended Giles Coke misses the game after being sent off at Millwall but Joe Mattock is able to return after his one-match ban. Glenn Loovens also faces a late test on the hamstring he damaged against the Lions and Reda Johnson is still trying to overcome his niggling hip problem.

If Afobe does makes his debut then Gray will have to decide whether to pair him up front with either Atdhe Nuhiu or Caolan Lavery and there could be a recall to the starting line-up for either Jacques Maghoma or Jermaine Johnson after a more cautious selection at Millwall.
