Gray calls for big improvement from Owls

Stuart Gray has demanded a much-improved performance against Charlton on Saturday after Wednesday’s poor display at Norwich this afternoon.

Gray was critical of Wednesday’s display at both ends of the field, reflecting on missed early chances for Lloyd Isgrove and Caolan Lavery by saying: “We had two clear chances but didn’t trouble the keeper and, had we taken one of them, we might well be talking about a different outcome to the game.”

Both Norwich goals came from sloppy defending and Gray added: “Our defending was not good enough today. We stood off them, we didn’t get our challenges in and you can’t allow a side like Norwich the kind of room we did on the ball.

“Football is a simple game when you get it right in both boxes and we didn’t do that today.

“I have said that to the players and I have told them I want to see a big improvement for Charlton on Saturday.”
