Goal drought passes 400-minute mark

Wednesday’s search for a home goal now stretches to 445 minutes and it is just one win in nine league games at Hillsborough this season following today’s goalless draw with Rotherham.

On the plus side, there were occasions when we posed more of an attacking threat than in recent home matches – although that’s not saying much – and it was largely about two poor sides who showed why they are both on bad runs in the Championship.

Wednesday could point to early efforts from Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Stevie May while the visitors missed the best chance of the game when the unmarked Paul Green headed wide from eight yards.

After the break, May was crowded out after an excellent run while Jeremy Helan forced a save from Adam Collin. And we might have had a late penalty when Kieran Lee went down in the box but appeals were waved aside.

At the other end, Rotherham had a good share of possession without forcing Keiren Westwood into many saves and a draw was probably a fair result in front of a near 27,000 crowd.
