Further delays over new kit supplies

The delay over the availability of Wednesday’s new kits took another embarrassing twist on Friday evening when the club announced that they would not be on sale at Sunday’s annual Owls in the Park event.

A statement on the club’s website on Friday evening said: “It is with regret that the club must inform supporters that the anticipated delivery schedule of kits for the end of August/beginning of September has not been met.

“Consequently, there will be no sales at this weekend’s Owls in the Park event as the club had hoped for.

“We have been given assurances that the delivery is expected within the month and as soon as we have further information regarding the release date we will announce full details.

“We completely understand fans’ disappointment over this issue and can assure all supporters that those frustrations are shared by the club.”

Wednesday decided to end their agreement with previous kit supplier Sondico, in favour of producing our own kit, but the club’s chief operating officer, Joe Palmer, told a fans’ steering group meeting last month that the unveiling of the new kit had been delayed because the planned new supplier had come back in May and quoted double the agreed price, so the club decided to look elsewhere.

The new kits were unveiled just three days before the first game of the season at Preston but now comes this latest news of a further delay in availability to the fans … and all this in our 150th year.
