Fox gets ‘all-clear’ after initial injury worry

Morgan Fox is clear to return to action at Stoke on Boxing Day after a head injury forced him off in the first half against Bristol City on Sunday.

It was feared Fox had suffered concussion and, under FA guidelines, he would then be ruled out for a 14-day rest period.

However, Garry Monk confirmed at today’s press conference that Fox only suffered blurred vision, the injury coming after what appeared to be a collision with team-mate Dominic Iorfa, and the Owls boss said he should be fine for the trip to Stoke.

Monk added that Steven Fletcher was improving after missing the Bristol City match with a sickness bug and he would make a decision on the striker’s fitness after training today.

Sam Hutchinson is available again following his two-match ban but Monk said Fernando Forestieri’s knee injury could now keep him out until the New Year.

We go into the Stoke game on the back of four wins in the last five games, lifting us into third place in the Championship, while Wigan’s point at Blackburn last night saw Stoke drop to the foot of the table.
