Former Owls boss Burtenshaw dies, aged 86

Former Wednesday manager Steve Burtenshaw has passed away, aged 86.

He managed the Owls between January 1974 and October 1975, a difficult period for the club which saw us drop into the third tier of English football for the first time in our history at the end of the 1974-75 season.

Steve also coached at Arsenal and Everton and managed QPR.

Wednesday posted a tribute on the club website, saying: ‘Our thoughts are with Steve’s family and friends at this difficult time’.

The London Owls also send our sincere sympathies to Steve’s family at this very sad time.
