Forestieri and Matias back for derby clash?

Fernando Forestieri and Marco Matias could make surprise returns to the Wednesday squad for Friday night’s derby clash at Bramall Lane.

The pair have been sidelined with hamstring injuries but have both been back in full training for the last fortnight and Jos Luhukay has hinted that they could be involved at some stage against Sheff U.

Luhukay said on Thursday: “Fernando and Marco have trained very well last week and this week with no problems.

“So maybe we think about these two players for Friday that they can help the team.

“We will speak with both after the training session today, they have made good progression and have trained really intensive.

“For me when the medical team give the green light and the players are behind that, then maybe they can help us.”

The return of Forestieri, in particular, would be a timely boost for Wednesday as we look to end a run of four successive Championship defeats, the last of these being the second-half capitulation to Norwich on Saturday.

Michael Hector, left out against the Canaries, can also be expected to return to the starting line-up in defence.
