For any London Owls thinking of making the pre-season trip to Slovenia, our one game during the training camp has now been confirmed for July 23.
It will be against Belgrade-based FK Čukarički, a club that finished fifth in the Serbian top division last season and they will be competing in next season’s Europa League.
The pre-season game will be staged at the Ptuj City Stadium, with a capacity of 2,207 seats. It is 30 minutes from the Owls’ training base in Maribor and kick off time is still to be confirmed.
FK Čukarički have had a turnaround in fortunes in recent years, following purchase by a wholesale and construction company in 2011, the same year in which they were relegated from the top division after failing to win any of their 30 league games. Backed by the new owners, the club were promoted back to the top flight in the 2012-13 season and then took fifth place at the end of the last campaign.
