First goal was crucial says Luhukay

Jos Luhukay said he felt whoever scored the first goal would go on to win Tuesday evening’s FA Cup replay after seeing Wednesday bow out of the competition in a 2-0 defeat.

Two second-half Swansea goals saw them through to the quarter finals after Wednesday had been the more threatening side in the first period and Luhukay said: “I think the first half was in the balance between the two teams, we had two or three chances to score.

“In the second half we could not give the pressure we like to do and Swansea scored the goal and then it was very difficult to come back into the game.

“We tried after the goal from Swansea, we put on an extra striker, but we could not get in behind because Swansea are strong defensively.”

He added: ā€œIā€™m disappointed to go out of the cup but now we must focus on the league.ā€
