Fernando Forestieri marked his ‘comeback’ game with a penalty for the under-23s as we we won 5-1 at Hull on Sunday.
Forestieri, who is available for selection at Cardiff on Friday evening after his six-match ban, scored from the spot to put Wednesday 3-1 up before the break.
Hull keeper Will Mannion had fouled Forestieri for the penalty and was red carded.
Wednesday then further underlined their superiority to run out comfortable winners, Luke Shaw hitting a double and the other goals coming from Ben Hughes and Fraser Preston.
