Fans can play their part says Carvalhal

Carlos Carvalhal has called on the fans to up the noise levels at Hillsborough tomorrow night when we take on relegation-threatened MK Dons.

After the disappointment of Saturday’s home draw with Ipswich, when we failed to convert some good chances, Wednesday will be looking for three points to strengthen our challenge for the play-off places.

We have no fresh injury problems for tomorrow’s game and, in a rallying call to the supporters, Carvalhal said: “It is an important period of the season, it will be a very tough game against MK Dons and we need a lot of support from the fans.

“The supporters have been fantastic all season and we need them to support us more and more tomorrow night because we need them to help us win the game.”

It will also be the head coach’s 50th game in charge of the Owls, and he added: “We all want the same result, to win the game, we need the extra energy and that can come from the stands.”

We remain in the final play-off spot in sixth position, five points clear of nearest rivals Cardiff and with four games to play. Ipswich are a further two points behind, with Birmingham now trailing by 10 points.

Cardiff are at Brentford tomorrow night while Ipswich entertain Fulham and Birmingham host Preston. Derby and Hull are immediately above us, both four points clear, and Derby are at Bristol City on Tuesday while Hull travel to Reading.

At the other end of the table, MK Dons are nine points from safety, with just four games remaining
