Evans praises players after traumatic week at S6

Chris Evans said he was disappointed Wednesday didn’t take all three points in the goalless draw at Rochdale on Saturday.

Evans, who took charge of the team with new boss Dave Jones in the stands, said it would have been a tragedy if we had lost the game after having nine shots on target and forcing eight corners.

He said of the players: “It’s been a difficult week and I give huge credit to them for the way they have responded to the events.

“They did everything I asked of them today and given other results this has been a point gained.”

Evans also praised the work of ex-boss Gary Megson, saying he would still have a bright future, and wished Dave Jones well.
