Double celebration for striker George

George Hirst and his Young Lions team-mates clinched the Toulon Tournament trophy in a dramatic penalty shootout against the Ivory Coast on Saturday afternoon.

England were one-up and then Hirst missed a penalty before Ivory Coast grabbed a last-minute equaliser from the spot. There were no further goals in extra time and that took the game to penalties, with the young England players holding their nerve to win the shootout 5-3.

Hirst, who was in the starting line-up against the Ivory Coast, also received a trophy as the tournament’s joint top scorer alongside team-mate Harvey Barnes, both netting four goals.
