Disappointing night for Owls

Wednesday slipped to their first league defeat under Garry Monk in a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Hull on Tuesday evening.

With the injured Steven Fletcher missing up front, we failed to repeat the intensity and attacking aggression of the 4-1 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday and went down to a 73rd minute header from Tom Eaves.

The defeat leaves us in eighth place, two points from the play-off positions and four behind new leaders Leeds.

In a game of few efforts on target at either end, our best opening fell to Adam Reach in the closing minutes when Jacob Murphy did well down the left, only for Reach to fire his drag back over the bar.

Earlier in the half, Sam Winnall headed wide when well placed as Wednesday, not for the first time, threw away the opportunity to build on an improvement in form with a below-par display against mediocre opposition.
