Dawson recalled to starting line-up

Cameron Dawson is recalled to the Wednesday goal for tomorrow night’s home Championship clash with Birmingham,

Keiren Westwood is ruled out with a slight shoulder injury but Garry Monk says he would have been dropped anyway, following recent errors.

Westwood was at fault for both goals in the last home game against Swansea and gave away the crucial penalty at West Brom on Saturday.

Monk, who said he was sure Westwood will reclaim his first team place over time, explained: “For goalkeepers, it is very difficult. There is always going to be mistakes in a season, nine times out of 10 those mistakes lead to goals for keepers.

“Keiren knows as well as me that when you’re in that position you can’t afford to make a number of mistakes in short periods of time.

“If it’s over a season, you’re expecting probably five or six throughout a season but when you make some in a short period of time it makes it very difficult.”

With Liam Palmer starting a three-match ban, Monk also confirmed that he will be choosing between recalling Moses Odubajo to the right back slot or bringing back Tom Lees in central defence and moving Dominic Iorfa to replace Palmer.

We go into the game on 25 points, still in ninth place and four points from the play-off positions after tonight’s Championship matches, while Birmingham are two points behind in 16th.
