Connor hits point-saver at Charlton

Charlton Athletic

Connor Wickham’s close-range strike earnt Wednesday another important point at Charlton.

Wickham, who is set to return to Sunderland after his loan spell ends on New Year’s Day, struck just before the hour after the home side had taken an undeserved lead through Dale Stephens soon after half-time.

They had hardly troubled Chris Kirkland in the first half while Jeremy Helan shot over for the Owls and Roger Johnson saw an effort hit the top of the bar.

After Wickham’s equaliser, Roger Johnson saw another effort blocked by keeper Ben Alnwick but Wednesday couldn’t find a winner.
