Coke misses Barnsley game … Owls wait on Loovens

Barnsley

Wednesday will be without the suspended Giles Coke for Saturday’s relegation six-pointer with Barnsley while Glenn Loovens is an injury doubt.

Coke starts a three-match ban after his sending off at Millwall and Loovens will have treatment on a hamstring injury which forced him off at half-time at the New Den.

Stuart Gray said Loovens tweaked the hamstring in the warm-up and it got worse during the first-half so they decided to take him off, rather than risk further damage and a possible lengthy lay-off.

Gray said Loovens will have treatment on Wednesday and added: “It’s too early to judge but fingers crossed he will be okay for Saturday.”

Joe Mattock will be clear to play against Barnsley after serving his one-game suspension while Wednesday will also wait on the fitness of Reda Johnson, who is still recovering from a hip problem.
