Chansiri appoints new man to committee

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri has added experienced coach Jonathan Hill to Wednesday’s Sporting Director committee, following the shock exit of Adam Pearson earlier this week.

Hill, who has almost 20 years of coaching roles on his CV, was assistant academy director at Wigan Athletic before moving to Manchester United as academy youth coach and spending nine years at Old Trafford, helping to develop players like Danny Welbeck, Jonny Evans and Tom Cleverley.

He then moved to become youth technical director for the Jordan Football Association before returning to England as academy youth coach at Manchester City, followed by a first team coach role at Norwegian side Tromso FC and then a similar position at Fulham.

Chairman Mr Chansiri said: “I am delighted to welcome Jonathan to the club. It can never be understated just how important it is that we introduce experienced industry professionals to supplement the innovation of our Sporting Director committee.

“Jonathan has an exceptionally strong skill-set and will undoubtedly enhance the core area of Sheffield Wednesday, which is the football infrastructure.”

Hill joins head coach Stuart Gray, Glenn Roeder and Paul Senior on the Sporting Director committee, Pearson having departed for Leeds United just three weeks after his appointment.
