‘Changing manager won’t ensure success’

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri appears to have pledged his support for under-fire manager Jos Luhukay ahead of Wednesday evening’s Fans’ Forum.

Mr Chansiri can be expected to field questions about Luhukay’s future as we have won just one of our last 10 games and have dropped alarmingly close to the drop zone.

He has told Sheffield Star reporter Dom Howson: “Two months ago, the fans and media were saying Jos was very good.

“Now we have gone down in the table, the fans are saying Jos is very bad and are asking why we haven’t changed.

“It is easy to change a manager but it does not guarantee that you are going to be successful.”

Mr Chansiri also held a meeting with the players on Monday to talk through the alarming dip in form but, contrary to reports, said that he did not discuss Luhukay with them.

He said: “The players and I had an open talk. It was not just me talking.

“I tried to tell them that I’m not blaming the coach and I’m not blaming them.

“I want to know what has happened and how we have gone from sixth to 18th in two months and how I can help.

“We, as a team, players and coach have to stick together.”

Looking ahead to the forum with supporters, Mr Chansiri said: “I’m going to say more at this forum than I have done before.

“I’m going to be open and I want people to listen. I will say things from my heart.”
