Chance to gain ground again on ‘relegation rivals’

Wednesday have the chance to move back into the Championship safety zone when we travel to play out-of-form Stoke tomorrow evening.

Victory would take us onto 31 points, two ahead of Rotherham and above fellow strugglers Coventry on goal difference, both of them playing on the following night when Mark Robins’ team entertain table-topping Norwich and the Millers travel to Bournemouth.

Derby, three points ahead of us, are also in action tomorrow evening when they go to bottom club Wycombe while Huddersfield on 33 points are at Middlesbrough.

Wednesday evening sees other strugglers in action … second from bottom Birmingham are at Millwall, Forest at Swansea and QPR at home to Brentford.

Wednesday have no new injury problems following last Tuesday’s win over Wycombe and caretaker boss Neil Thompson is unlikely to make many changes, if any, from his starting line-up in the 2-0 victory.

Stoke are looking for their first win in 11 games – not good news for Wednesday fans who know how good we are at ending teams poor runs – and they are also likely to have former Wednesday man Steven Fletcher up front.
