Chairman Milan’s update on the manager’s job

The wait to see who takes over as manager at Hillsborough will now drag on until after Saturday’s game with Leeds.

Milan Mandaric had indicated that a decision would be made after last Saturday’s Macclesfield cup game and caretaker boss Stuart Gray said he would be meeting with Mandaric to discuss the role on Tuesday.

However, Mandaric has been out of the country on business so the face-to-face meeting did not materialise. The chairman has now said that Gray will stay in charge for the Leeds game and they will talk after that.

He said: “I’ll talk to Stuart after the game at the weekend and we’ll sort it out. He has stabilised the team, and the players are showing a lot of good signs. We cannot ignore that.

“We’ll come to a final decision but we want to concentrate on this important game against Leeds. Stuart is a good coach who is doing a good job  and I am very appreciative of that. He will stay one way or another.”
